Theme Context: Werner Ulrich, is a former Professor in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Fribourg, Switzerland; currently he is Honary Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Technology of the Open University, UK, and Director of the Lugano Summer School of Systems Design. He is known as one of the originators of "critical systems thinking" (CST), which he understands as the use of systemic thinking in the service of reflective practice and research. Werner's key note talk deals with the importance of context and boundary critique in the production and application of knowledge. Primary research areas:

Theme Services: Kim Viborg Andersen, is Professor at Department of Informatics, Copenhagen Business School His research focus on IT in the public sector - a topic he has studied for more than 15 years. In his talk on " public sector rebuilding using information systems (PPR)" he will argue that e-government has evolved within areas where there is no or little direct citizens contact. The web-interface to government is rarely part of the core services. Instead, government continue to use IT as a mean to transport data from A to B without analyzing the data and without any objectives or strategies how e-government is going to benefit the citizens and companies. Onwards, the researchers within e-government are rarely critical and do only seldom pay attention to the institutional and policy processes governmental services are part of. Primary research areas:

Theme Participation: David Avison, is Distinguished Professor of information systems at ESSEC Business School near Paris. He was Chair of IFIP8.2, president of UKAIS and is president elect of AIS.
